About John
John Casselberry, Jr. is a supervising police/fire 911 dispatcher and School Board Trustee for the Stanislaus Union School District (SUSD) Governing Board representing Area 5 after successfully being appointed in October 2022 to serve a four year term.
Serving local communities has always been important to John. Prior to finding his home in Modesto, John served on civic organizations including a term on the Simi Valley Planning Commission, Youth Council and on the Neighborhood Council #4 Executive Board, where he served as a bridge between local neighbors and city hall. He also spent time on the Board of Directors of Kids and Families Together, a non-profit dedicated to providing services and improving the quality life of foster, adoptive, and kinship families.
In 2024, John was nominated as the Board Clerk of SUSD, which serves 3,400 students and families, also known as Modesto’s premier K-8 school district of choice. For 8 years, he has dedicated his life to public safety as a police and fire dispatch supervisor, and is passionate about public service earning his undergraduate education in international affairs and history, minoring in economics and currently completing his Masters of Public Administration at Columbia Southern University.
As a Trustee of the Stanislaus Union School District, he has been selected to be the Chairperson of the 150th Anniversary Celebration Committee by the Governing Board and was selected to be the Board Clerk for the 2025 calendar year. He successfully led the passing of a $45 million school bond for SUSD in 2024 serving as the Campaign Chair and Treasurer for the Yes on Measure R for SUSD committee. During his tenure, the Stanislaus Union School District Governing Board was selected as School Board of the Year by the Association of California School Administrators for Region 7.
John Casselberry, Jr. is a California native, and attended John Cabot University in Rome, Italy where he earned his bachelors. John enjoys traveling the country on road trips and spends his free time exploring local businesses in Modesto and meeting community members in non-profits, small business, and community organizations.
